I have a question... what should I do if I want to start working out, build muscles and lose weight, but I feel uncomfortable in gyms?

Let me explain a bit... I feel uncomfortable with myself because I keep convincing myself that I'm not worth taking care of myself at all; I'm piece of shit not worth anyone's attention. This also reflects on my attempts to get fit and train at home. I also don't feel comfortable looking at gymbros at the gym. Each of them looks way better than me and I get lost in fantasies about muscles. They are always better, stronger, more beautiful. Then the phrase is born in my head: "why the hell should I work out at all, I'll never look that good anyway."

This is how I spent the last 5 years - going to the gym, reminding myself that... I'm still myself, and turning back without even opening the door.

I would like to change this, but mentality still prevails. Should I even bother going to the gym in such a situation? Can I do some training at home without feeling shame?

0) gyms aren't a requirement for fitness. resistance training including weightlifting is a very effective way, but not the only way.
1) you'll be yourself until you work to change that. realize that, don't just think it and then get demotivated that you're not there yet.
2) you can absolutely eat healthier, lose weight and gain muscle mass at home. if you don't buy equipment then you won't be able to do certain weighted compound exercises like deadlifts and weighted squats, but there are so many other effective exercises you can do anywhere, anytime with body weight alone. Pretty sure there's a whole subreddit about bodyweight routines with excellent wiki resources, including how to progress appropriately, they know more than me so just go there. (e.g. an underweight scrawny guy and an overweight heavy gal will do their first pushups with different technique to get the right amount of resistance)
Start with bodyweight stuff and adjusting diet (can't outrun a shit diet). Set measurable, short-term goals to motivate yourself. Once you can get some basic consistent habits going, then maybe consider making it tougher, but don't burn out instead.

If vanity does not move you perhaps pride might?

After all anyone can sit around and do nothing. Anyone can give up. Anyone can ignorantly gorge themselves to death. It's a trait and lifestyle common to all of our species. Imagine how many consign themselves to comfort, loiter and stagnation, to sit about with no cause. Not many can take such steps to face the strife. There is some nobility in that. Regardless of results, you should do what pleases you most.
If you know who you are, and know who you may be: you need only choose.

You have every potential and possibly at your finger tips. Why shackle yourself to inaction? How is it that the spectres of your mind haunt you so? Pull down thy spooks.
