This will be my first ever post on any onion site and idek if I’m posting this in the proper way, I don’t know much about the “deep web” and am wondering what is the purpose for sites like this. I don’t mean to offend but I’ve been scrolling through tons of different boards on several different sites and it all just seems like a edgy Reddit page (I will say this site has been the most tame so far). On top of that one theme I am seeing in almost all of these pages is the obsession with Japanese culture (anime specifically) what’s with that???

Chan imageboards are just a type of forum, they can be about anything. There are ones for Japanese anime, there are ones for trains, there are ones for discussing maths and science and technology, some for porn, some for politics, some for countries. This one is about Discordianism. They're really easy to host and people can anonymously talk on them.

A lot of us are bored of the typical edgy stuff, we want a more creative edge! Imageboards have a reputation for being edgy and permissive, but not all are like that.

The first anonymous chan board was 2channel (2ちゃんねる), although it was just a textboard. From that came the imageboard Futaba Channel (ふたば☆ちゃんねる) in 2001. A few sites copied the anonymous imageboard style over to English communities, the most famous being 4chan in 2003, which was originally an anime community for a few years before becoming more general-purpose. So chan imageboards tend to have a Japanese culture ingrained in them.

<The following post has been edited to fit the following format. If you know who has edited this post, let me know. I'm mildly upset

I come here because it's a fun anonymous image board themed around my religion. (I suspect other discordians are here as well. 99.999% sure)I know other chat boards and forums exist, probably reddit, but with those (over this) come conditions and rules and moderation that bedfellows with Greyface: even in the guise of our sacred paratheometamysitkhood. For shame!
This site is particularly rare, however, as most discordians seem apt to start their own webpages, most of which I delightfully observe.

I can't speak for why anime boards; as while I like some anime... I'm not an otaku nor fangirl. So I never visit those boards. They are a mystery to me as well.
Culture wise people often look for what they lack, and are quick romanticize one reality while damning their own.
