Might there be any Discordians in Singapore? Am I truly alone here? This place feels like it had fun once and said "absolutely not." immediately afterwards. I thought I was a weird outsider as an American, but boy fuckin howdy am I off the deep end here.

Perhaps. I heard that thinking too loudly is a fineable offense there!

It's terribly problematic for a fella who not infrequently walks around with handfuls of bones and a beer. Lovely weather, incredible infrastructure, but by Eris' sweaty panties do these people never have fun. You even mention weed and they put you in jail. I'm going to try to start a cabal, maybe put a strange altar somewhere. I've made the Hajj to Norton's grave, so I have to at least pretend toward being a Real Discordian.

Like pineapple, strangely enough. It's crisp, but not like a pear; closer to the texture of ...a hard plastic. The bite is like taking a bite out of ...nothing I've ever put in my mouth before. Kinda like coconut, but not flakey at all. Very strange, but delicious.

I also tried mangosteen for the first time and that is JOOCEY and crazy flavorful.

I am going to try every damn new fruit I see.

My family have a tradition of going to a market or supermarket in every country we've visited. Sometimes we even go to familiar multinational chains (just to look at the menu differences, not to buy anything)
our faces when we mix up the matcha kitkats with the wasabi kitkats.

not dead yet, just caught up in the day to day of surviving this madness. Food is cheap, but everything is just ungodly boring. My former-hobo lifestyle is not exactly suited to this place, and I need a damnass job, it seems. Can't live off of my fiancee forever.

It's been weirdly isolating here. I'm in the slow and steady process of building a shrine to Eris, golden apple included. Granted, it's suspended gold in a glass apple, and not Acapulco gold, but I'm making do. The wood here is strange, and hard to work with. Will drop pix when I can.

woah woah woah hold up I assumed you were just travelling to Singapore. It's one of the most expensive cities in the world, right? And in the top 3 most expensive in the country.

Nah, I'm marrying a Singaporean. It's expensive... if you're not a Singaporean. She's basically guaranteed housing, and food is fucking dirt cheap. If I wanted a vehicle, it'd sure be expensive, but food is as cheap as dirt, especially in comparison with America. I actually have a chance to have a place with her here, but in the states, not as much. Hell, home ownership was genuinely impossible there. Places are tiny as a rat hole here, but it's more than enough for me; I lived in a 3.6mX14.2m shack in the woods for 8 years.

Yeah, housing and vehicles seem to be the two biggest expenses. I haven't seen the place in ten years so I don't know how good the public transport I N F R A S T R U C T U R E is.

>I lived in a 3.6mX14.2m shack in the woods for 8 years.
Story time.

I've never lived for more than a week or two outside of cities. I suspect I'm in one of those rat hole places , about twice the size of your old shack, but with so many shops and support around that home is merely where the hat is.

Well, once upon a time, a weirdo became homeless, and then from there moved onto 18 acres of property, whereupon he built a shack and grew his own food, kept bees, and started a cult. Madness ensued, and I ended up in Singapore.

Once upon a time a madman ended up homeless, and from there ventured onto 18 acres in the ass end of [REDACTED], where he built a shack, grew his own crops, hunted his own deer, kept bees, and started a cult. Years of madness ensued, spattered with drug use and promiscuity.

Thence, he ended up in Singapore.

People here often fantasize about the tranquility of moving out to a farm or cabin. But my mind is chained to the chaos of urbia. I'm not ready to abandon the train, until it's right at the lip of the cliff and I can no longer hope to rock it off-course.
