I don't know about you, but I want to see more and more discordians in the world.
Eris deserves her own little temple with lots of deranged followers, but discordianism is kinda hard to spread because it isn't all that zealous or dedicated.
anyone feel the same way?
Replies: >>283 >>3332
Temples make it stiff and boring. Everyone's already deranged. Everywhere is a sacred site of Eris. Just talk to "cabbages" long enough and you'll see it.
nothing wrong with a little bit of institutionalization… I suggest we start setting up communes all around america and central europe
A kitchen sink is my temple, but you need my permission to enter.

Some disguise themselves as Wiccan at times. I believe it's a deep cover tactic that is used to flush out the harassers, so that they can be mocked and laughed at.

No way, I don't want any Discordian e-whatever attention whores online shitting up the place. Bunch of greyfaces that attracts it's own kind of vermin. Those always end in massive hugbox cancer. The e-discordians on their treehouse forums and imageboards should be left to their own ecosystems separate from each other. RAW said it best when he said we, Discordians, must stick apart. The internet shouldn't be an exception. I'm not again having a beer with a few Discordians you know personally. I'm just saying we don't want any hype kiddies in.

Shut the door. It's cold outside and we pay for heating.
>>150

I see my Discordian enlightment as a personal spirital path and no two popes will ever agree on something. That's fine. You're just wrong. Hail Eris.

It's the reason the Principia introduced a right for all discordians to start their own schisms, cabals and sects. A hierarchy hard to place.
Every sect has absolute autonomy. Erischan lurkers and PD forums users shouldn't be one and the same.

Yep, i'm pirating that. Not spending a fucking penny on it. Nothing will beat the unabridged version of the audiobook I found online somewhere. Used to listen to it on my way to and back to work for a while. Good stuff. I also bought a physical copy of Schrodinger's cat trilogy a while ago and I never got around to actually read it.

How much do you want to bet they gonna go full virtue signaling to pander to the target audience and try to make it a commercial success? It won't really matter to them to make it decent. They will just want to make a quick buck out of it because counter-culture, dude. fuck the system maaaannnnn.

I might be pleasantly or horribly surprised and I'm scared to know.

If any of you are serious about introducing Discordianism to more inquiring minds, you're free to start a thread and leave a link over in the Religion section of Xchan, where we, The Cult of Moth originated and are headquartered. https://xchan.wtf/rel/index.html

I just discovered your chan, but it's interesting. The Cult of Moth is always seeking knowledge and perspective so you are welcome to come over and share your wisdom.

Like you, our cult started as a joke, but is growing in authenticity and dedication.

Come on, you don't even tell what your cult is about. I'm not gonna click that before we have a serious discussion about dangers of cults.

The Cult of Moth is a dualistic cult that emphasizes personal transformation on a never-ending journey through life and death(symbolized by the moth and its progression from a caterpillar). This is reflected in our acronym MOTH, which simultaneously denotes (Making Our way Towards Heaven) and (Making Our way Towards Hell).

Existence is viewed as a complete and inseperable entity, good and evil are shades that bleed into each other and both are necessary for balance; we gain wisdom by traversing, understanding and experiencing this vast horizon of reality.

I am unsure how to interpret this.

So you realized that objective morality is a shitshow and made it into a religion with funny backronyms?

It's nice to see orginal thinkers around, but I still think your idea needs a little something something to catch fire.

Keep reaching for that lamp tho!

denial of objective morality is practically what I imagine erisianism to be.
with whiffs of absurdism, herecliteanism and surrealism, discordianism quickly becomes a much, much darker belief.
Eris symbolizes the necessarily required strife and struggle we face, and in Her name we can strive for even more strife.

That sounds perfectly complimentary to The Cult of Moth and our views. How do you guys feel about having a Moth/Eris collaboration thread that links back to here and vice versa? This is an opprtunity to trade ideas and flesh out our philosophies. The Cult of Moth would do well to examine the Absurdity of Discordianism and Discordianism can possibly integrate Moth's perspective of metamorphosis into your conception of chaos. We both have more to gain and can further establish and reinforce ourselves agaist our mutual enemies of the Abrahamic faiths.
Replies: >>227 >>239

dude, abrahamic religions are huge, they'd crush us without even aknowledging our existence. We better fight each other, since that would be way more interesting and balanced. Also we'd win and every time we win we have a party. Parties are fun.

So, mortal enemies?

Have you considered that our religions originate from a visceral place in the soul? This is what I mean; traditional religions originate in the minds of men and their perspectives, but MOTH and Discordianism stem from true primordial forces that transcend man (Moth: Life+ death, sex+violence; Discordianism: Chaos, fate, luck) That is why Moth started as images expressing fundamental concepts, then came the meaning and articulation.

>>241
Fucking b a s e d OC. Saved, and this will be the image for the possible Eris/Moth Collab thread. You guys should say yes to it. Like I mentioned above, you don't even have to post opinions at 1st, just images of things that represent Discordian forces. The philosophy will flow from this.

Furthermore, why would you value wishes of a collective higher than your own, if you wish to create something then you should. I didn't make this website btw.

I'm new to discordianism, but Most of my life i wanted to live an ascetic lifestyle and i kinda do actually. Having a robe would make me feel more dignified in my eccentricity and living in an aesthetic temple with other robed discordians even more so, but where there are organizations there are rules and i don't give a damn about not eating hotdogs on certain days, i'm afraid my lack of humility and the resulting chaos would hurt other discordians and the wight on my consciousness would destroy me in return.

Its all fun and games until someone loses an eye, or starves to death, wouldn't want to end like some pathetic hippy commune from the sixties. Fun costs money, but its highly doubtful that there is a sufficient amount of discordians out there to support a temple by letting us organize their weddings/funerals. Selling trinkets wouldn't exactly fill our pockets either.
Replies: >>286

money is only worth as much as you make it. we can make our own currency. The Erisian Decentral Bank will handle it.
You could easily make Discordianism more interesting if you laid more focus on the possibility of something greater than just a few boomer jokes. Exclusivity also breeds interest, so knowledge that would take a long time to harness would do good for it. Like a common language perhaps, or even comprehensive stories about Eris herself.
Laying a link with western esotericism shouldn't be hard, though Discordianism is a very American work, and should require a few translations and reinterpretations first.
